Design Engineer

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The role of the Drafter is critical in creating detailed drawings and models that serve as the foundation for our engineering projects. This position demands a high level of proficiency in SolidWorks, Rhino and AutoCAD to produce accurate and detailed schematics, layouts, and 3D models.
Key responsibilities include:
- Technical Drawing Production: Generate detailed technical drawings and models using SolidWorks, Rhino, and AutoCAD for diverse projects.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the engineering team to ensure all designs meet the necessary specifications and project requirements.
- Regulatory Adherence: Guarantee compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements in the creation of drawings and models.
- Document Control: Manage and update drawings and documentation to ensure accurate version control and adherence to document management protocols.
- Engineering Document Control: Understand and manage all processes related to engineering document control and change management systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- BOM and ECN Management: Responsible for the entry and maintenance of the Bill Of Materials (BOM) and filing of Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), ensuring product and project documentation reflect current specifications and changes.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- At least 3 years of experience in document control or related role within an engineering or technical environment.
- Ability to create parts, assemblies, and drawings using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Rhino.
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office and experience with ERP systems.
- Strong understanding of engineering document control processes, including BOM management and ECN filing.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, providing support across departments.
- Must have experience in manufacturing.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE DESIRED:
- Experience in the marine or boat manufacturing industry.
- Familiarity with design specs and regulations for the following: USCG, SOLAS, MARPOL, ABYC and class society rules: ABS, Lloyds.
- Shipyard, shipboard or boating experience.
- Experience in composites fabrication and design.
- Ability to perform or direct repairs/installations.
