Early Career Water Resources Engineer

The Denver Water Service Line has an excellent reputation and supports a broad variety of project work across the U.S. and internationally. These projects include FEMA Risk MAP (Risk Mapping, Assessment and Planning) activities, transportation drainage (bridge hydraulics, culverts, storm sewer, etc.), environmental engineering, dam breach hazard analyses, and other specialized water resources projects. Your Impact
- Work under the supervision of a Professional Engineer as part of our hydraulics and hydrology group
- Work as part of a collaborative team to support floodplain management, transportation engineering, drainage engineering, and environmental design such as stream restoration work.
- Perform one- and two-dimensional modeling to complete hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analyses in compliance with FEMA guidelines and specifications.
- Proficiently work with ArcGIS software to support modeling and mapping efforts.
- Proficiently use a variety of open channel and closed conduit modeling software applications like HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, HY-8, etc.
- Convey results and findings by means of oral discussions, graphic-based presentations, and project documentation.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- BS in Civil Engineering or related engineering degree required, MS preferred
- Engineer in Training accreditation preferred
- 0 – 1 years + of hydrology / hydraulics and water resources/civil experience
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Experience using HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, EPASWMM/PCSWMM, HY-8
- Proficiency in ArcGIS a plus
- Experience with Microstation/Geopak and/or AutoCAD a plus.
- Familiarity with the National Flood Insurance Program and FEMA flood insurance study regulations is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Must pass background check

Compensation: Expected Salary (Colorado only): $65,000 - $75,000
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
