Job Description
Position Summary:
Unity Lab Services (ULS), a part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, provides integrated solutions, instrument, and enterprise services to our customers. This UV/Vis and FTIR Depot Repair Technician is responsible for providing customer service by performing calibrations, preventive maintenance, and repairs on UV/Vis and FTIR customer instruments and assemblies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represents the company in a positive, professional manner in all dealings with Thermo Fisher Scientific customers, both external and internal.
- Provides customer service by performing calibrations, preventive maintenance, and repairs on customer UV/Vis and FTIR instruments and assemblies. Seeks assistance from peers as needed to perform activities.
- Communicates optimally with customers during all phases of service, including scheduling, diagnosis, quotation, and shipment. Ensures the schedule meets the customer’s needs.
- Repair customer property in a timely manner applying current Depot repair processes and tools.
- Maintain employee training demands and records.
- Provides feedback to factory personnel on product quality issues or improvements.
- Participate on service factory interface teams and technical services teams regarding product quality issues as necessary.
- Accurately maintains service records within SAP system. This includes, but not limited to, closing service notifications, updating repair activities, inventory, labor, and printing customer facing documents. Assists all technicians in this process to ensure that notifications are completed timely and accurately.
- Maintains company assets (Test equipment, tools, inventory, computer, etc.) in good and working condition.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by Manager.

- Proven track record to diagnose and resolve problems on sophisticated electronic, mechanical and optical instrumentation maintained in a laboratory environment.
- Must have strong interpersonal and effective communication skills.

- Demonstrated leadership abilities and decision-making abilities.
- Basic instructional abilities (training).

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- Minimum three to five years technical experience or relevant industry experience on UV/VIS or FTIR Spectrophotometers. (Preferably Thermo Nicolet)

The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and rarely lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
