Position Summary:
Responsible for systems maintenance of Hospitals information systems. May include customer service, interface, applications and software support and/or development. Manage the analyst team within the assigned IT department. Conduct systems project planning. Conduct systems project design, documentation, training and installation. Coordination of project implementation with vendors and with the Project Clinical applications Manager. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. No patient care assignment.
Detailed responsibilities:
- PROJECTS - Manage projects as assigned from start to finish including development of specifications, creation of project plan, tracking and reporting milestones, and product delivery to include collaboration with CLT staff for training of end-users; may include installation of new vendor-based systems and upgrades to existing systems as well as in-house developed systems
- SYSTEMS - Coordinate the analysis of data gathering and consider all available solutions or alternate solutions defining and proposing recommendations for implementation of application system and inter-system communications enhancements
- COORDINATION - Coordinate all new system installs and system upgrades from a systems perspective
- SYSTEMS - Understand and maintain knowledge of all Hospitals information, software, hardware, and operating systems or those specifically assigned. Assist with system maintenance and modification as needed
- TRAINING - Collaborate with appropriate personnel on the training of IT and Hospitals personnel in new applications and changes to systems as applicable, including appropriate staff on all projects requiring training on existing or new systems
- SOFTWARE - Implement software on new and existing systems for department or individual use
- CONFIGURATION - Prepare and approve policies, standards and direction for system configuration
- NEEDS ANALYSIS - Communicate and collaborate with technical and non-technical personnel to understand and define user needs, gather and analyze data and recommend solutions
- PROJECTS - Provide support, maintenance and administration for assigned IT projects. Prepare and present status reports on assigned projects
- PROJECTS - Head small to medium sized project teams coordinating progress from start to completion
- PROCEDURE - Conduct the development, creation, maintaining and updating functional operating manuals and contingency plans outlining established methods of performing work in accordance with UNM Hospitals organizational policy
- SYSTEM ANALYSIS - Assist and guide Systems Analysts in the preparation and implementation of system analyses on existing Hospitals systems based on features in administrative and clinical information systems
- TESTING - Research and test leading edge systems technologies
- COMMUNICATION - Communicate with technical and non-technical personnel on systems issues to understand and respond to user needs
- BUDGET - Assist in the management of budgets for the responsible area
- STANDARDIZATION - Oversee UNM Hospitals hardware and software standardization efforts as appropriate and assigned
- DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops
- SUPERVISION - Develop efficient organizational structure. Supervise employees and select, terminate, train, educate, correct deficiencies, perform appraisals, issue discipline, counsel, schedule work assignments; encourage staff teamwork and growth initiatives

7 years Vendor based Application support experience, of which 2 years were in a supervisory role
