We seek an innovative Mechanical Design Engineer to take a significant role in designing and engineering our third-generation liquid desiccant air conditioner. This role can be based out of our HQ in Sunnyvale California or our Manufacturing site in Anderson South Carolina.

About the Mechanical Design Engineer position: We seek an innovative Mechanical Design Engineer to take a significant role in designing and engineering our third-generation liquid desiccant air conditioner. The successful candidate will “get in at the ground floor” of our newly launched and funded business to design and launch into the market industry-changing commercial HVAC products. They must be comfortable overcoming design challenges under deadlines, working across teams, and working both independently and as managed locally and remotely.   • Lead the mechanical design and build of a novel HVAC product, including system-level and component-level design.
  • Work with component and system owners to design overall product package.
  • Evaluate and improve designs for manufacturability and reliability.
  • Design and build non-production parts as needed, including test fixtures, tools, and jigs.
  • Design and execute subsystem tests to explore design space and validate solutions.
  • Coordinating with different design groups to address changes affecting multiple aspects of a system.
  • Summarizing and presenting findings to promote changes to design and/or process workflow.
  • Producing solid models and engineering drawings.
  • Managing revision control of product CAD data.
  • Manage suppliers to quote, build, and evaluate prototype and production parts.
  • Basic fabrication, assembly, machining, debugging, and parts chasing.
  • Participate in Failure Modes and Effects Analysis.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or directly adjacent field of study
  • >2 year’s experience in mechanical design and design for manufacturing
  • Strong CAD skills (SolidWorks or Onshape preferred)
  • Strong critical thinking skills: ability to deep dive into cause-effect and complex diagnostics
  • Demonstrated history of hands-on experience in design/build
  • Knowledgeable in common manufacturing processes, including metal forming, injection molding, machining, sheet metal, etc.
  • Structured problem-solving skills, leveraging inputs such as functional documentation (P&ID diagrams, mechanical drawings)

Salary: The compensation package for this role is dependent on location of the candidate:

  • California: $120,000 - $155,000
  • South Carolina: $75,000 - $110,000

The compensation range for this role applies to both employment offers and Mojave employees actively working in the role. Generally, our employment offers fall between the minimum and midpoint of the range to allow for continued salary growth during your employment at Mojave. The upper half of the range accommodates this growth and supports our intention to create an environment that encourages lasting relationships between Mojave and our team members.

Health benefits will be effective the first of each month following the initial hire date. Salary$75,000 - $155,000 per year
