Mechanical Design Engineer III

Summary:

A Mechanical Design Engineer III at KESG will take an active role in the design, documentation and completion of equipment and hardware sub-assemblies. Core job responsibilities include the creation of equipment drawings using AutoCAD and Solidworks software platforms, management of equipment bills of materials (BOMs), and creation of P&ID mechanical assembly layouts. The mechanical design engineer 3 will also work with several departments to ensure product designs are properly manufactured including updating drawing redlines and contributing ideas to the new product roadmap.


Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Document designs with drawings, specifications, and materials list
  • Design and analyze mechanical systems, equipment, and packaging
  • Input drawings and design packages into PLM system and release via ECO process
  • Conduct feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs
  • Generate manufacturing assembly procedures and instructional manuals
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with approved practices of the company
  • Manage projects with minimal guidance
  • May direct the work of others withing the department
  • Work independently with minimal supervision

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of design process, ability to apply comprehensive knowledge of engineering concepts, theories, practices, and procedures
  • Ability to interact with internal and external customers
  • Ability to exercise discretion and good independent judgment in all duties and responsibilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods and occasionally walk, bend, and lift up to 25lbs.

Computer Software and Application Skills:

  • Microsoft Office Suite, Exceptional Excel skills mandatory
  • Solidworks, AutoCAD, Inventor, ProE or other design package experience required

Education/Experience/Certifications:

  • BSME or equivalent work experience or combination of education and experience required
  • Vocational or technical training preferred
  • 7 years of engineering or related work experience required
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
