Position Overview for Quality Control Engineer :
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Quality Control Engineer to join our CNC manufacturing team specializing in metals and polymers. This role is essential to ensuring our products' precision, reliability, and high standards. The Quality Control Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality systems, conducting inspections, and working closely with the production team to ensure compliance with specifications and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities for Quality Control Engineer :
- Develop, implement, and manage quality control processes and systems for CNC-manufactured metal and polymer products.
- Perform inspections on materials, components, and final products using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, CMMs).
- Analyze product specifications, engineering blueprints, and manufacturing processes to establish quality standards.
- Work closely with the production and design teams to resolve any manufacturing or quality issues and ensure alignment with quality objectives.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for product non-conformance or defects.
- Oversee the calibration and maintenance of measurement and testing equipment.
- Document and report on quality metrics, inspections, and audits.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure raw materials meet required standards.
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards, customer requirements, and other regulatory requirements.
- Lead internal quality audits and assist in external audits by clients or certification bodies.
- Provide training to manufacturing personnel on quality control processes and best practices.
- Work to continuously improve quality systems, reduce waste, and optimize production efficiency.
Qualifications for Quality Control Engineer :
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in quality control within CNC manufacturing, ideally working with both metals and polymers.
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, materials, and fabrication techniques.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Experience with quality management systems (ISO 9001, AS9100, etc.).
- Familiarity with inspection tools such as CMM, micrometers, calipers, and surface finish testers.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to precision.
- Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and other quality control methodologies.
- Proficiency in quality analysis software and data reporting tools is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications for Quality Control Engineer :
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Experience with polymers and their machining characteristics.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Experience working in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
