Quality Engineer II
New Bern, NC / Full-time
The OEM Quality Engineer will be responsible for managing overall quality and releases within OEM projects for the North American market. He/ She will be responsible for establishing quality targets within new projects, including agreed contractual rates, quality test standards and release procedures, and ensuring all other quality relevant standards required for product conformity are being adhered to. He/ She will act as the quality lead in both local and multi-regional OEM projects and is responsible for coordinating all quality activities per the BSH product development process. He/ She will also support the screening and audit of potential and current suppliers per ISO 9001/ 14001, driving developments as needed to meet BSH standards.
Your responsibilities
- Coordination of all quality activities for OEM products and projects within the region. This includes:
- Driving milestone (ME) quality releases and risk assessments
- Release of product test specifications, including household testing
- Coordination of test protocols and release plan with local and OEM development teams
- Establishing of quality targets within projects (TCR100/ 200, EDC, Warranty)
- Setting of final technical release and ensuring product conformity to all local and BSH standards (including agency, safety, and regulatory standards)
- Management of lifecycle projects/ change requests and releases.
- Coordination of test laboratories to support running projects, as well as ongoing testing of series production to ensure sustainability of product performance and conformity
- Perform supplier audits to evaluate quality systems, production processes and determine overall Q standard and release of OEM suppliers in North America.
- Support overall TCR, warranty and quality cost target definition for region North America together with global Quality management.
- Drive root cause analysis using problem solving tools and methods (DMAIC, 8D, PDCA, etc.) of failed field components and manage improvement projects with suppliers.
- Work with the product owners to analyze perceived quality and end customer satisfaction through various tools (social media, VICO, NPS, etc.) and drive quality requirements in new projects to improve.
- Collaborate with customer service, product safety, and product development to resolve any quality or CTS issues that may arise.
- Support preparation of EQS (Execution Center Quality Session) and RQS (Regional Quality Session) meetings and communication.
- Act as a key contact partner for all areas of the BSH organization relating to OEM quality topics (including operations, development, purchasing, service, product management, etc.).
- Support incoming product audits as needed and drive corrective actions where necessary.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Your profile
- 4-Year College degree in Quality Engineering – Required
- Certificate in Six Sigma/Shainin Red X – Preferred
- Required Travel = 30%
- 3-5 Years Experience with Consumer Products in Quality or Development – Required
- 3-5 Years Experience with quality tools and methods – Required
- Extensive knowledge of state-of the art quality management methods (including ISO, FMEA, 8D, DMAIC, etc.)
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, multi-task, and drive deadlines for quality improvements.
- Strong project management skills to drive quality requirements and deliverables within projects.
- Ability to understand and interpret quality findings and drive relative improvements.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Powerpoint). Knowledge of other systems (SAP, ETQ, PowerBI) beneficial.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate with a wide spectrum of people from auditors to upper management.
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities using tools like Six Sigma, Shainin Red X, etc.
- Must be able to work well with people in other departments under difficult and sometimes stressful circumstances.
Your Pay & Benefits
The pay range posted for this position is based on the location noted in the posting title. Exact compensation offered may vary based on your specific skillset and work location. If the position is bonus or incentive eligible then the payments range from 0% to 200% of target with details laid out within the plan document.
