Essential Functions:
Maintaining Safety, Product Quality/Yield, and Manufacturing Effectiveness:
- Troubleshooting: The engineer will be actively involved in identifying and resolving daily process issues that may affect safety or product quality. This might involve addressing problems in foam formulation, processing techniques, or equipment operation.
- Ensuring Compliance: They’ll need to ensure that all operations comply with safety standards and quality control measures relevant to the production of specialty foams.
Optimizing Manufacturing Processes:
- Capital Projects: The engineer will likely oversee or contribute to projects aimed at upgrading equipment or implementing new technologies that improve the efficiency of foam production.
- Statistical Analysis and Design of Experiments (DOE): They will utilize statistical tools to analyze production data and conduct experiments to identify the optimal conditions for foam properties (e.g., density, flexibility, thermal resistance).
- Procedural Changes: Implementing changes in manufacturing protocols to enhance performance and reduce costs, such as adjusting mixing times, curing processes, or other key parameters in foam production.
Customer Interaction:
- Technical Support: The engineer will work closely with customers to address any technical or quality-related issues, providing solutions that meet specific performance requirements for their applications.
- Special Products: They may also be involved in the development of custom foam solutions tailored to customer needs, requiring an understanding of both the product and customer expectations.
Problem Resolution and New Product Development:
- New Products: This includes collaborating with R&D and production teams to develop and scale up new foam formulations or products, ensuring they meet performance standards and are manufacturable.
- Continuous Improvement: The engineer will actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives, using feedback from manufacturing and customer experiences to refine processes and products.
