Senior Process/Project Engineer

SUMMARY:
A leading manufacturing company is seeking a Senior Process/Project Engineer. The position will report to the Engineering Supervisor and is responsible for providing process and technical expertise on continuous and batch processes and developing practical solutions to process-related problems.
The working environment is a small team, but we must establish and maintain productive working relationships with production engineers, supervisors, R&D, and maintenance. The job requires 10% travel to various plant locations nationwide. Locations include : Louisiana, California, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Washington State.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Mentor junior-level engineers and lead small groups working on multiple projects.
- Manage and support numerous concurrent projects.
- Monitor project status and pursue corrective action, as required, regarding schedules, budgets, and work quality.
- Provide regular project updates to key plant and corporate stakeholders.
- Prepare process design packages (heat and material balances, PFDs, P&IDs, control narratives, etc) for proposed changes and projects. Size and specify process equipment and materials.
- Develop process descriptions, sequences of operations, and conceptual control strategies.
- Identify and develop process improvement ideas and create initial work scope for future projects.
- Develop process knowledge for multiple processes and establish credibility by applying past knowledge or experience.
- Provide process-related support to operations.
- Provide process engineering support for capital and expense projects managed by other engineers.
- Frequently demonstrate highly technical and professional competencies on medium to high-profile projects.
- Participate in PHA/HAZOP and other regulatory activities.
- Participate in project commissioning activities and provide technical support to meet project goals. Travel up to 10%.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering.
- 8+ years of related experience in engineering design of chemical plants, including hands-on troubleshooting experience.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong understanding of chemical engineering fundamentals.
- Knowledge of piping and equipment codes, product safety standards, etc.
- Working knowledge of PLC and DCS control systems.
- Motivated and results-oriented individual.
- Hands-on doer. A participative engineering style and self-starter.
- Ability to work independently as well as on a team.
