Sr. Plant Engineer

Large food manufacturer in the Troy, AL area is seeking a Sr. Plant Engineer with project and PLC experience. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation and continuous improvement of our manufacturing processes through your expertise in PLC programming, automation systems, and plant engineering principles. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of our PLC systems, while also collaborating with various departments to optimize production efficiency and uptime.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain PLC programs using ladder logic, function block diagrams, or other relevant programming languages.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose PLC-related issues, ensuring efficient resolution of production downtime.
  • Perform ongoing maintenance and optimization of existing PLC programs to improve system performance.
  • Collaborate with maintenance technicians, production personnel, and engineering teams to identify areas for automation improvement.
  • Develop and implement control strategies for new equipment and process upgrades.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation for all PLC systems.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in PLC technology and automation trends.
  • May provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers or technicians.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related field) preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Plant Engineer or similar role with a strong focus on PLC programming and automation.
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting and problem-solving PLC-related issues.
  • Proficiency in various PLC programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, function block diagrams, structured text).
  • Working knowledge of industrial automation systems, sensors, and actuators.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
