Job Title: Sr. PLC Process Automation Engineer- Plant Operations
Location: Bellcamp, Maryland

Company Overview:
My client is a rapidly growing manufacturing company based in Maryland and Reno Nevada, expanding their facilities to meet increased demand. With two factories currently in operation and a new one currently being built, they are focused on driving efficiency, safety, and sustainability through automation. They are seeking a skilled Automation Engineer to join their team and lead the automation efforts across our facilities.

Position Overview:
The Automation Engineer will be responsible for automating and optimizing the processes in the 2 currently running factories, ensuring they remain up to industry standards for efficiency, productivity, and best practices. You would also be involved with the creation of a new plant that is opening in 2025. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing operations, particularly in similar industries, with a proven track record of implementing automation solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Automation Implementation: Design, develop, and implement automation systems across all three factories to streamline manufacturing processes.
  • Maintenance & Support: Continuously monitor, maintain, and upgrade automation systems to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency through innovative automation solutions, and lead initiatives to improve system reliability and reduce manual tasks.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with operations, production, and maintenance teams to understand current processes and provide solutions that integrate seamlessly with existing systems.
  • Compliance & Best Practices: Ensure all automation processes comply with industry standards and safety regulations, while implementing best practices in plant operations.
  • Documentation & Training: Maintain detailed documentation for automation systems and provide training for staff to ensure they understand how to operate and troubleshoot systems as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience in automation in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on operations plants. Experience in the food, spice, or similar industries is highly preferred.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficient in PLC programming (Logic Ladder) and automation software. Experience with robotics, sensors, and industrial control systems is a plus.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and solving technical issues.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage automation projects from inception to completion, including timelines, budgets, and coordination with cross-functional teams.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working with both technical and non-technical teams.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced certifications in automation are a plus.
