Transportation Engineer

Role: Transportation Engineer
Location: Multiple locations throughout MA + RI
Compensation: $80,000 - $140,000 DOE (hybrid work schedule, half day Fridays, annual bonus)

POSITION SUMMARY:
One of the top Engineering firms in New England is looking to grow their Transportation team with the addition of a seasoned Traffic Engineer. The ideal candidate will be able to support traffic design projects from the study/development phase all the way through the construction phase. If this sounds like you, please read on!

DUTIES AND CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform field investigations
  • Work as an integral member of our Transportation Division team providing traffic analysis and simulation, traffic impact studies, traffic planning, traffic signal design, safety analysis and public presentations
  • Assist in roadway design in the areas of intersection designs, traffic management plans, traffic striping details, utility coordination, quantity take-offs, and cost estimates
  • Prepare traffic engineering reports, technical specifications, and other written technical documents
  • Provide due diligence for state and local regulations including zoning, planning and environmental
  • Perform construction-phase field observations
  • Other related traffic/roadway design and peer review activities as needed

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND COMPETENCIES:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 2+ Years of Transportation Engineering experience
  • Registered Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training certificate. PTOE or ability to obtain within 2 years a plus
  • RIDOT, MassDOT, and/or ConnDOT experience preferred
  • Knowledge of roadway/traffic design with experience and understanding of AASHTO and MUTCD
  • Ability to utilize computer technology for engineering applications, including AutoCAD; experience with HCS and Synchro software; and GIS Systems are advantageous
  • Knowledge of basic engineering principles and the ability to perform all the computations applied to standard engineering operations
  • Attention to detail and the ability to think critically
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Self-motivated with a professional attitude
  • Active participation in professional and community organizations preferred
