Design Engineer

Position Requirements & Responsibilities: (These requirements are in addition to any and all Viewrail employment requirements and policies.)

Job Summary:

The R&D Design Engineer will handle all items that focus on designing and modeling new products used on a customer’s project to completion as accurately, efficiently, and promptly as possible. These projects will be custom in nature and will require high attention to detail. Design Engineers are responsible for collecting information from the customer regarding their project, getting approval for all custom drawings, monitoring the materials through the production process, and working with the customer on any installation needs or additional questions after the order has shipped.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with customer from order placement to installation via various modes of communication
• Perform tech calls for custom orders
• Model R&D projects and produce shop drawings in 2D and 3D
• Ensure order accuracy
• Release orders into production
• Update customers on order status
• Installation guidance and questions post sale on designed R&D products
• Coordinate with the R&D team to design new stair systems
• Utilize CAD software (Autodesk Inventor & Autodesk Vault) to design parts for manufacturing
• Coordinate with R&D Fabrication team build custom items to order outside of standard manufacturing
• Visit job sites to oversee & assist in the implementation of new products in the field for unique projects
• Define testing parameters that may be necessary for product viability and help with testing as needed
• All other job duties and responsibilities as assigned

• Great grasp of Inventor software and modeling
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail
• A keen eye for detail and desire to probe further into data
• Able to be flexible with product scope changes and adapt to product evolution
• Excellent communication skills; listening, comprehension, feedback, and troubleshooting
• Spatial Awareness and aptitude

Desired Skills:

• Being able to self-start and self-motivate when there is no one available to provide instruction
• Capacity to handle pressure while still producing high quality work
• 2D and 3D Modeling (Autodesk), various customer management tools
• ICC, IRC, and IBC Code knowledge
• High level of product material application knowledge
• Knowledge of a wide range of manufacturing processes
