As the Emission Certification & Compliance Engineer, you support obtaining/assuring official vehicle type approval or certification in time for planned market launch. You are responsible for all market-specific rules and regulations and information is available at BMW AG. You take all necessary steps with regulatory agencies to allow the market introduction of innovative BM. You provide advice development department for specific US regulatory requirements. You guide different departments to find a appropriate solution for specific compliance topics.

In addition, you participate in specific technical agency and industry meetings and represent BMW. You prepare and distribute documents within the company and prepare documents for meetings. You present BMW position in technical agency and government meetings and influence the outcome. You support compliance testing / reporting in the time schedule demanded by the US agencies. You communicate with agencies, argue for the best possible outcome for BMW in line with the current regulation. You manage specific tasks for certification & compliance, e.g. Confirmatory Testing, InUse Testing, GHG reporting with departments in Munich and the US.

In support of BMW of North America’s business objectives, this position requires regular attendance at a BMW office with remote work capability (hybrid).

The pay range for this role is: $86,084.00 - $101,275.00.

The selected candidate’s education, skills, experience, and location will be used to determine the final salary offer. All pay ranges are based on a full-time work schedule. This statement is in accordance with state and local pay disclosure requirements.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Automotive, Electrical) or master’s degree.
  • 3-5 years (bachelor) or 1-3 years (master) in vehicle development or project management.
  • 3-5 years (bachelor) or 1-3 years (master) recent experience in Emissions and Fuel Economy Certification and Compliance in the Automobile industry or similar.
  • 3-5 years (bachelor) or 1-3 years (master) years’ experience in direct dealing with the governmental agencies (EPA, CARB, NHTSA) or similar.
