Job Description:

As a Firmware Design Engineer in the Secure Computing Group (SCG) team, you will be at the core of an organization designing, integrating, and distributing security IP, and applying design knowledge to Microchip business units interested in embedding security functionalities into their product lines. You will become proficient with the security implications and risks that come with integrating these state-of-the-art cryptographic based hardware and software solutions. This position requires a strong interest in the areas of embedded systems programming and design development. Candidates must have the flexibility to adapt to the dynamic security requirements of multiple Business Unit’s needs. You will interact with other teams as we help them integrate cryptographic solutions to satisfy the electronic security needs of various industries. Join us, and you’ll help design cost-effective, ultra-secure electronic defense mechanisms for security sensitive and automotive markets. Due to the security nature of the elements developed by this team, this is a full-time “work from office” position.


Job responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following.

  • Develop embedded firmware, Application Utilities for computing products like Tablets, Mobiles, Desktop PCs, Industrial PCs and state of-the-art on-silicon security solutions.
  • Complete product development life cycle from requirements analysis, design, development, unit testing, Hardware integration testing, system integration and trouble-shooting.
  • Work with multi-site cross-functional teams.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Team player willing to learn, encompassing excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Interest in design methodology surrounding microprocessor system design.
  • Exposure to hardware description languages: SystemVerilog/Verilog/VHDL.
  • Programming language experience in C/C++.
  • Scripting and automation skills: Unix/Linux shell programming, Perl/Python/Ruby/Tcl, Makefile, Revision Management.


Education & Experience:

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with 0-2 years of industry experience. Benefits

Pay Range: We offer a total compensation package that ranks among the best in the industry. It consists of competitive base pay, restricted stock units, and quarterly bonus payments.   • Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
