Logistics Area Leader
Location: Memphis, TN
Report To: Logistics Manager
Work Arrangements: 100% on-site
In this role you will:
- Develop the capabilities of Logistics team leaders and technicians to achieve business goals and drive improvements in the line/area
- Ensure the team meets Safety, Quality, Production, and Cost targets for their line/area
- Create and maintain department/team scorecards, reviewing them with leadership monthly to identify gaps and their causes
- Establish Key Performance Indicators for teams and regularly communicate the results
- Engage with team members on the floor, providing coaching to encourage problem-solving, decision-making, and self-reliance
- Utilize High-Performance Organizational principles to enhance leadership skills in individuals and teams
- Collaborate with the Logistics Manager to develop and implement the business master plan, including key technical and organizational projects
- Address performance gaps in the line/area by implementing company Continuous Improvement methodologies and promoting a zero-loss culture
- Identify and eliminate the root causes of department issues
- Consistently apply company policies and procedures across teams, administering necessary discipline
- Oversee training and qualification programs for the designated line/area, ensuring effective training and consistent qualification standards
- Facilitate clear communication and expectations by translating complex information into easily understandable messages
- Drive team buy-in to new initiatives and improvements by embracing change
- Manage time and attendance for the designated line/area, including payroll approval
- Provide performance-based feedback, including annual Performance Appraisals, to team leaders and technicians
- Exemplify the Basic Beliefs and Our Commitment to Each Other
- Use and serve as a resource for Supply Chain software/systems (WMS/Blue Yonder, IMI, Oracle)
- Track and improve manufacturing variances while ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Maintain the proper functioning of peanut usage and variance systems
- Identify and support cost-saving projects
What we are looking for:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, any discipline
- 2 years of logistics or manufacturing operational experience, including experience in leadership, supervision, or management
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a large organization to achieve business objectives
- Ability to effectively engage with team members on the floor
- Decisive, proactive, and strategic decision-making skills
- Strong analytical troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root cause identification abilities
- Effective collaboration across organizational boundaries and diverse teams
- Self-motivated, organized, and quick to learn new skills/technologies
- Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite applications
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule to support the organization effectively
- Availability to work off-shifts or weekends as needed
Additional skills and experience that would contribute to success in this role:
- Prior people management experience in a high-performance work environment
