The Manufacturing Engineer will primarily be involved in development, justification, procurement, and improvement of current equipment and process improvement activities throughout the manufacturing facility. Identify areas for improvement while applying standard engineering methodologies, documenting procedures and educating plant management and workers on implementing new procedures. Assignments will include daily shop floor support as well as manufacturing and development projects.


Requirements

  • Drive lean and productivity improvement initiatives plant-wide through the development and implementation of new processes, equipment and procedures.
  • Participate in Lean activities including Kaizen events, 5S, 8D, Preventative Maintenance programs, root cause analysis, 5 Why and other Lean tools to enhance productivity.
  • Assists Global Product Line Managers with new product in the development to meet the demand of our Customers in a cost-effective manner.
  • Assists Manufacturing with the development of processes and improvements for existing and new equipment introductions.
  • Research and write Capital Expenditure Requests (CER's) for new equipment purchases designed to enhance productivity and quality.
  • Assists Plant Manager with cell design and ensuring compliance safety, quality and productivity, while complying with QMS and OSHA requirements.
  • Provides technical support and assistance in the solution of technical problems to manufacturing.
  • Work cooperatively with Quality Engineering in problem solving activities and process issues.
  • Develop and maintain schedules for all projects assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Communication skills - above average written and verbal communication skills. The development of presentations or presentation material may be necessary.
  • Project Management - write detailed project plans using 3S and 5S techniques as well as Project software.
  • Multi-tasking - exhibit the ability to move seamlessly between calls, quotes and juggling priorities to ultimately balance the customer needs with corporate capabilities.
  • Cooperation & Teamwork - must take a leadership role within the department and actively provide assistance to others as needed. Understands the impact of their words and behavior on others.
  • CAD and drawing experience along with ability to solve complex problems is required


EDUCATION

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in an Engineering curriculum
  • Minimum of five years of practical hands on experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred
