Due to our success, we need to continue to add resources to assist with the delivery of our current extensive backlog of work. This backlog includes tasks associated with various infrastructure improvement projects for local agencies including WMATA, VRE, other transit agencies, railroads, DDOT, SHA, VDOT and other local agencies.


We currently have an opening in Washington, DC for an Assistant Project Manager or Office Engineer in our Transportation division to work on various transit-related construction projects under a Task Order Contract with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA). The successful candidate will support our current staff while assisting in growing the Construction Management and CEI practice to better service our clients in Washington, DC Metro Area.


Responsibilities: Supports construction management projects providing administrative and technical support tasks for transit, freight rail, bridge, heavy civil, and roadway construction projects. More specifically:

  • Maintains full familiarity with plans, specifications, construction schedules, contractor's plans on assigned contracts, the Adjacent Construction Project Manual, JDAC/ATOC Procedures, and current safety regulations relative to assigned projects;
  • Disseminates information to office and field staff and internal stakeholder offices;
  • Establishes and maintains job record files for assigned projects;
  • Updates data in the file management PROCORE system (PROCORE);
  • Reviews contractor's schedules, coordinates schedule and progress reviews and prepares and distributes schedule and progress reports;
  • Verifies technical documents including as-built plans and drawings submitted by the contractor;
  • Assists construction inspectors and contractors in clarification of contract drawings and specifications;
  • Assists the Project Manager in reviewing contractor's claims and negotiating change orders;
  • Prepares change orders and contract modifications;
  • Assists Estimating Engineers in preparing cost and/or time estimates for change orders;
  • Reviews and processes contractor RFIs and submittals;
  • Coordinates the collection and review of daily inspection reports from field inspectors;
  • Performs other project related duties as assigned by WMATA’s Task Manager.


Typical assignments will include local transit (bus and rail) projects. The position will receive supervision from a Project Manager and/or Resident Engineer and assume additional responsibilities as assigned.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or related field of study from an ABET accredited university
  • A minimum of five years experience (7 preferred) in design, construction, or major repair/rehabilitation of infrastructure project
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills, and strong technical writing skills
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, AutoCAD and ProCore

Desired Skills:

  • Professional Engineer License
  • Knowledge of local transit agency standards and specifications including WMATA and VRE
