The Impact You’ll Make in this Role As a Product Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world.


Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Contributing to Electronics Materials Solutions Division (EMSD) Product Engineering for our Expanded Beam Optical (EBO) portfolio
  • Designing fiber optic connectors as part of our EBO portfolio
  • Interfacing with a global team and contributing to new product development and support of existing platforms
  • Ensuring technical claims in 3M published literature are accurate and supported by test data


Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an Engineering or Science discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • Three (3) years of mechanical design experience in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Three (3) years of experience using 3D CAD Software (e.g. SOLIDWORKS®, Siemens NX, Pro/ENGINEER (Creo) and/or AutoCAD®)


Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Experience with an aptitude in Design for Manufacturability
  • Experience with Siemens NX CAD tool
  • Demonstrated strength in engineering and technical skills
  • Minimum five (5) years of mechanical design experience in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM), specifically for plastic injection molding
  • Experience with performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and ability to create component drawing packages
  • Experience with optical fiber connector design
  • Ability to interface with suppliers and customers
  • Demonstrated ability to work and collaborate as a key member of a global team
  • Highly organized, able to multitask and work independently
  • Strong analytical ability, with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and presentation)

The expected compensation range for this position is $93,033 - $113,708, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
